The agency forecasts that the typhoon will develop and reach the very strong level off the Shikoku region on Tuesday, packing maximum sustained winds of 162 kilometers per hour with peak gusts of 216 kilometers per hour.
Western through eastern Japan could experience severe weather conditions, with rain and winds intensifying on Tuesday and Wednesday.
