Pistorius in Manila: closer cooperation agreed on armaments and training
Manila (dpa/BMVg/d.de) – Defence Minister Boris Pistorius has met Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for talks to discuss closer cooperation. The meeting with the head of state in the capital Manila on Monday also marked the end of Pistorius’ trip to the Indo-Pacific region, which began a week ago. The German government is expanding its involvement with partners in the region. In Manila it was announced that a military policy agreement would be concluded on training assistance and defence cooperation by the end of the year. “We intend to sign a bilateral inter-ministerial agreement shortly so as to inject fresh impetus into our relations in the various areas,” says Pistorius.
