Alabali Radovan visits South Africa
Development Minister Reem Alabali Radovan (photo) has taken off on a trip to South Africa, aiming to deepen economic and political cooperation. “South Africa is a key partner for Germany in a world in which geopolitical tectonics are shifting,” the minister said.
She is also taking part in the G20 Development Ministers’ Meeting that is taking place in Skukuza in South Africa today and tomorrow, based on the theme “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability”. “The G20 is the central format for the world’s largest economies to make advances in fighting poverty, extreme inequality and climate change,” Alabali Radovan pointed out.
Her trip will focus on economic exchange. More than 600 German companies are represented in South Africa with over 100,000 employees. To get an impression of the situation locally, Alabali Radovan’s trip will also include a number of site visits, such as to a factory that makes hydrogen fuel cells.
In addition, the minister will be taking part in political talks with the South African health minister, aiming to promote vaccine production in Africa, and with the minister of finance regarding the realisation of the Just Energy Transition Partnership.
